International Conference on Sustainable Agriculture (ICoSA) is an international event organized by the Department of Agrotechnology, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY), Indonesia. This conference is designated to address various issues and studies related to the topic of sustainable agriculture. It consists of two main activities, namely plenary talk and parallel discussion. The plenary talk serves as a scientific forum enabling mutual information exchange and discussion among diverse stakeholder backgrounds and expertise regarding the latest yet globally happening issues in the agricultural sector. The parallel session is designated to facilitate the dissemination of valuable research progresses related to the selected scopes of studies. As the output of the conference, all papers are carefully reviewed by our highly selected scientific committees to ensure their qualification to be recommended for both international and national publications. Considering the previous ICoSA events, this conference had gained great success in both years and been considered as a potential international event that also offered a promising output through the publication in a reputable journal and proceeding.

"GREEN SMART TECHNOLOGY AS A GATEWAY TO SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE "

As the world grapples with population growth, climate change and environmental degradation, the need to transform traditional agricultural practices into sustainable and environmentally friendly systems has become increasingly important. The term “Green-Smart Technology” encapsulates a spectrum of environmentally conscious and technologically advanced innovations. These include precision agriculture, which uses data-driven insights to optimize resource use; smart farming solutions supported by the Internet of Things (IoT), enabling real-time monitoring and control; and artificial intelligence (AI) applications for predictive analysis and decision making. By implementing smart, environmentally friendly technology, agriculture can become more efficient and sustainable. This technology offers the potential to minimize waste, reduce the use of hazardous chemicals, and improve overall resource management. Through data-driven insights and automation, farmers can make informed decisions that produce higher yields while minimizing negative impacts on the environment. Green-friendly smart technologies serve as a gateway to building resilience in agriculture by providing tools and strategies to adapt to these changes, ensuring food security in the face of climate change. This activity also underscores the importance of collaborative efforts between stakeholders, including farmers, researchers, technology developers and policy makers. By bringing together diverse perspectives and expertise, the conference aims to develop a holistic approach to sustainable agriculture that considers economic, social and environmental dimensions.

Publication Opportunities

  1. This conference facilitates post-conference publication in three different choices of platforms.

    • IOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Sciences Additional charges are applied. Estimated to be published in December 2024,
    • Scopus Indexed Journal: Journal HPT Tropika ,
    • National-accredited journal: Planta Tropika 
      SINTA 2-accredited Journal, Planta Tropika (Journal of Agro Science). Estimated to be published in February 2025.

    All submitted papers will be carefully reviewed through a double-blind method to determine their qualification to be published in one of those three options of platforms. The processing of the submitted papers for this post-conference publication will be managed by a scientific committee, consisting of the editorial board and peer reviewers selected from various institutions from different countries and expertise. Participants will be charged based on the recommendation given by the scientific committee alongside the participant’s agreement.
    Payment of article processing will be informed once the final notification of the publication platform is released.

  1. This conference focuses on the dissemination of recent studies related to the implementation of sustainable farming practice from four major aspects, namely crop production system, crop protection, management of soil and land use, as well as post harvest management. All papers submitted in this conference are strongly encouraged to imply the impact of its studies to the agroecosystem or surrounding environment explicitly.
